Teacher Training
BAL is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Provider Number 40741) offering
CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management.
This qualification and training is not limited to BAL members, and is available to all those with a recognised dance background who wish to complete an accredited Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management.
The course covers all dance genres.
BAL offers internal Teaching Certificate III in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop.
These courses are available to those who have passed BAL Elementary standard in their selected style (or comparable standard from another organisation), and candidates must be 16+ years of age.
This course is the minimum qualification required for all BAL teaching members.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
BAL offers a complete syllabus workshop (BAL Annual Summer School) at our Sydney headquarters every January.
This workshop covers all syllabus grades in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Selected grades of National Character are also included each year, according to teacher requests.
Registered BAL teachers must attend this Summer School at least every two years, as a condition of membership.
Classes are taken by BAL examiners and Senior teachers. Questions from member teachers are encouraged, and teacher participation in classes is very welcome.

ADDITIONAL SYLLABUS WORKSHOPS may also be held at Sydney headquarters throughout the year, whenever new or revised syllabi are introduced. See ‘Workshops” page for dates.

Syllabus workshops are also held regularly in Auckland for BAL NEW ZEALAND members and interested dance teachers.
